Professionally I am an intellectual property lawyer - and that means advising on patents.
Despite a globally uncertain economic context, 2024 saw new European patent applications of 199,264 applications. This confirms the attractiveness of the European technology market, especially in highly innovative sectors such as artificial intelligence, clean technologies, and electric mobility.
So it is a great honour that today heard that I have been appointed as a member of the Patent Mediation and Arbitration Centre of the Unified Patent Court - the Pan-European Court covering 24 jurisdictions.
I had a small role with British colleagues and the UK Government in its creation, to join it as a member as an arbitrator and mediator for patent disputes is a truly wonderful.
