Like many I have Irish family, and the relationship between the UK and Ireland is therefore personal and business linked. The connection to Ireland is important and it’s the 6th largest trading partner for the UK.
In addition to close personal ties we are blessed with organisations like the The British Irish Chamber of Commerce who promote business connections day in and day out.
The British Irish Chamber of Commerce was founded in 2011 ahead of the historic visit of HM Queen Elizabeth II to Ireland and the subsequent State visit of President Michael D. Higgins to Britain.
The objective of the Chamber is to champion the €90 billion annual trade between the UK and Ireland which directly sustains over 600,000 jobs.
Today we had an excellent afternoon discussing growth with Anglo-Irish businesses, the Irish Finance Services Minister and the Lord Mayor of London.
