Early start today as the markets committee visited Smithfield market.  We heard about the challenges of changing trade, competition from India and China for anew Zealand lamb, and adjustments to brexit consequences.

Fusiliers at 50

The Fusiliers are fifty years old, and today we welcomed them to the Guildhall for an inspection by the Lord Mayor and their Colonel in Chief the Duke of Kent.

Billingsgate Visit

Today the market committee inspected the billingsgate fish market with the director of the sea food school, learning about trends in seafood and the campaign to have the population eat fish twice a week.  A fascinating review of the wide range of fish on offer, and very educational.

Brexit no deal planning

Yesterday the Brexit Secretary gave a speech and published the first twenty five of an expected eighty papers on what will happen if the EU and the UK do not enter a new trad agreement, and instead revert to WTO terms on trade between them.
