Foreign Affairs in Focus

James Tumbridge & Priti Patel

Foreign affairs are always interesting but in 2025 it is hard to know where to focus given the range of challenges:

Trade Wars

Changing relationships between the US and Europe

Changing relationships between the UK and EU including on defence

The UK discussions over the future of the British Indian Ocean Territory

The growth of China and its interests in the pacific, Indian Ocean and Africa
The war in Ukraine

The conflict in the Middle East

….the list of challenges is so very long, and it impacts the UK in many ways…it was therefore a pleasure to get to ask the Shadow Foreign Secretary directly what can be done to alleviate these challenges.

We live in interesting times, and one wonders what normal times will look like, but what I can say is that; the City Corporation and I are watching and engaging where ever we can to improve our foreign relations.
