Dame Kelly Holmes added a new honour today as a Freeman of the city of London, and it was a privilege to be part of her celebration as a councilman and member of the sports board.
Dame Kelly took part in her final major championship in 2004, with a double gold medal-winning performance to become Olympic Champion. She retired from athletics in 2005 but has become a global motivational speaker, known for her advocacy on various health-related topics, particularly mental health and inclusion. A remarkable woman who has led a remarkable life, and it’s a pleasure to honour her.
